Biblical Wealth: An Introduction
““Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.””
A small sign in my office reads, “The quickest way to become a million-dollar rancher is to start with $2 million!”
I purchased it in 2012 while attending my first loan officer training in South Dakota. At the time, I was drawn to the humor, but over the years, I’ve realized just how much truth it holds. Throughout my career, I’ve watched wealth rise and fall—sometimes dramatically.
We all have different perspectives on money. Many of our beliefs are shaped early by our parents and peers, but they’re also influenced by experiences, culture, and society. But what does God say about wealth? It turns out He has a lot to say—the Bible references money and possessions more than 2,300 times!
If we want to be good stewards of the resources we’ve been given, we need to align our perspective with His. If managing wealth is important to God, then it should be important to us. This blog series will explore the biblical view of wealth and how it applies to our daily lives.
My career has revolved around money—from banking to owning a finance company—so I’ve seen firsthand how money shapes decisions, opportunities, and challenges. Along the way, I’ve gathered stories and lessons that I hope will bring insight, wisdom, and a fresh perspective on finances. I can’t wait to dive into this topic with you.
